> Why SAS exists, our goal for 2030, what we believe, how our virtuous circle works and the foundations everything rests on.

**At a glance**

**Applies to:** everyone who works with SAS, employees and consultants. This page is also public.

* **Our purpose:** to be utterly brilliant for every client, every time.
* **Our goal:** to have done this for 100,000 employees facing a settlement agreement by the end of 2030.
* **Our virtuous circle:** a great place to work, utterly brilliant service, efficiency through technology and growth, reinvested.
* **Our foundations:** integrity and our duties as SRA-regulated solicitors.

**Who to ask:** Patrick.

## Our purpose

To be utterly brilliant for every client, every time.

## Our mission

We exist to transform what is often the most stressful moment in our clients' working lives into an experience of expert guidance, genuine care and peace of mind. By the end of 2030, we aim to have done this for 100,000 employees facing a settlement agreement.

## What we believe

Everyone facing a settlement agreement deserves access to expert legal advice, delivered with speed, clarity and genuine compassion. Our fixed fee, usually paid by the employer, means cost is not a barrier, and our technology lets our team spend its time on what matters: caring for each client.

## How we do it: our virtuous circle

Our business runs as a virtuous circle. Each part makes the next one stronger.

**1. A great place to work.** We create a fun, fulfilling and exciting place to work. We work like an elite football team, not a corporate with a hierarchy: everyone is on the pitch, everyone supports each other, and we all play on the same team with shared goals. Rather than top-down management, we coach people and encourage self-management, so that each person can play at their best. Humour and camaraderie take the place of office politics and backbiting, so that our team is empowered to deliver five-star service to every client.

*How we make it happen:* [Our values: UTTERLY](/handbook/our-values); [Remote at SAS](/handbook/remote-at-sas); [Constructive Communication](/handbook/constructive-communication); [Health, safety and wellbeing](/handbook/health-safety-and-wellbeing); Flexible working (page 23); [Holiday and handover](/handbook/holiday-and-handover).

**2. Utterly brilliant service.** Every client receives the Gold Standard. Clients who are looked after this well leave five-star reviews, recommend us to colleagues and come back to us.

*How we make it happen:* [The Gold Standard](/handbook/gold-standard); Vulnerable clients (page 41); Complaints (page 40).

**3. Efficiency through technology.** We build our own technology, using automation and AI, so that our service is faster, better value and more consistent, and our team spends its time on clients rather than admin.

*How we make it happen:* [IT and communications](/handbook/it-and-communications); [AI use](/handbook/ai-use); Business continuity (page 35); [How this handbook works](/handbook/how-this-handbook-works).

**4. Growth, reinvested.** As more people choose SAS, we reinvest in growing our share of the market and in making SAS an even better place to work. And the circle starts again.

*How we make it happen:* [Pay, pension, bonus schemes and expenses](/handbook/pay-pension-bonus-and-expenses); Learning (page 25); Hiring (page 27).

## Our foundations

Everything above rests on acting with integrity and meeting our duties as solicitors regulated by the SRA. These are not values we choose; they are the standard everyone at SAS must meet, every time.

*How we make it happen:* Supervision (page 38); [Data protection](/handbook/data-protection); [Whistleblowing and speaking up](/handbook/whistleblowing-and-speaking-up); Money laundering (page 44).
